1.The beginnings.
I started to learn English when I was 4 or 5 five years old. We had a native teacher and she told us that we had to teach her because she didn't speak Spanish, so this way we learnt the basics like, “hello, how are you?” or some simply words like mother, father, dress or school. We also acted the Pretty ritty, the Charles Perrault's story about a small rat who wants to get married.
When I was a bit older we learnt vocabulary by singing songs, I still remember some of them and it was really useful.
I have always been one of the best in my English class although I wasn't able to speak or write well.
My improvement started when I began to go to some extra English classes, I was in a small group and the teacher was a native speaker so we were really into the language.
2.Start using the language.
With these extra classes I felt more comfortable speaking English and I really thought I was able to speak or write quite well. I started to listen to music in English and I felt frustrated because I didn't understand the lyrics. So I started to listen to more music and read the lyrics to learn more vocabulary and this way I began who to use all I had studied.
Sometimes I spoke with my brother in English at home and we discussed how to pronounce some words or how to use the tenses, and that also helped me.
3.English and me nowadays.
Right now English is my first language.
English- the language that opened in front of you a lot of doors and possibilites, i'm sure that you never regreted any second that you've lerned Enlgish. You speak very good Rnglish, but anyway don't stop learning it, because this can be the way to your success in future!
ResponderEliminarI think all of us should be proud of ourselves because of our English skills and motivated to learn it more, until being able to speak it as our mother tongue. It's obvious that English is the way to have a succesfull future.
EliminarI so much agree with both of you - English is likely to give you many wonderful opportunities in the future, as it is (whether we like it or not!) truly the lingua franca of the world at the moment.
ResponderEliminarYou have been lucky, Elena, to be able to participate in many international projects and exchanges through your school! Apart from learning new languages, you will also learn so much more - not least about yourself. I do hope your stay in Finland will be positive and beneficial! It's really nice having you in our school.
I really considere myself a lucky person for having all this posibilities. I just try enjoy to all the most I can, like you have saíd and exchange program is not just for learning a lenguage, is for learning to be a global citizen and a respectful person.
EliminarI agree with you, English is very hard when you start to talk in it but then you get use to it and it turns out much easier than what you thought. I'm an exchange student too and I really agree with you when you say that English is your first language right now and I think it is good because you improve very much and it is good for your future!
ResponderEliminarI think every time you start a new lenguage it seems really difficult, but when you start to use it and you realise that you are able to speak, write or listening you get motivated to continue improving.
